Personalities Wowed LB Audience, Encouraged Studs To Empower for Youth Republic

A roaring, ear-blasting crowd stumbled with deep excitement and pure amazement as three undeniably influential personalitites- Ramon Bautista, Ana Alexandra Castro, and Lourd de Veyra, graced the DL Umali Auditorium with their timeless charisma and influence as they ought to empower UPLB studs thru the launching the Youth Republic- Youth Empowerment, last January 21, 2012.

The three-hour discussion forum, now on its fourth year, aims to encourage youth sector in various institutions, mostly in schools and universities, in building a self-governing body through leadership and unconditional services, and urges youth in worthwhile yet timely actions such as in community-involvement, media literacy, and social awareness for empowerment and development.

Leading the entire pact was Diliman's USC Vice-Chairperson and proud bisexual, Alex Castro who tackled the misconceptions about gender and equality. As a founder of the “Proud to be LGBT Campaign”, Castro cited her personal experiences when she revealed her real sexual-preference after her fearless confession of having a girlfriend. Born into oppression and criticisms, both from her family and others, the BA Psychology student of UP Diliman shared the role of liberalized mind in empowering youth, ending her timely speech by encouraging everyone to respect one another by letting everybody live up on the lives they chose.

Renowned vocalist and broadcaster Lourd de Veyra enchanted the audience as he came next in a very interesting, jaw-dropping litany. Highlighting the media's and internet's influence and contribution in affecting the country's presentday realities in the society and how people use these modes of communication in their daily advantage. With such a manly and complete tone he received tons of applause as he ended up his topic by reiterating that youth must set free of their minds first before planning to set free of the nation.

As expected from the audience, Ramon Bautista received the wildest cheers, from the time he went to the stage until he put a smashing reminder at the end of his topic in literacy. The acclaimed internet action star once again proved his hype to the crowd of scholars as he left them mesmerized by his viral videos, citing how one could use the opportunity from social media and its scope in empowering the youth and building relationships. Prior to that, he shared his secrets by having a self-adopted 3G's in life- gutts, glory, and gold, in which according to him, sealed his life and fortune. For once, the UP Diliman professor has shown his best side by summing it up by saying “Huwag muna umibig!” at the end of his speech, leaving the entire DL Umali in complete amazement.
An open-forum followed quickly after the speeches of the guests which satisfied the audience.
The activity was made possible thru the sponsorship of BUKLOD UPLB.
