World’s Most Beatiful Woman Is Filipina Megan Young

At the conclusion of the most anticipated grand finale of Miss World, the oldest running international beauty pageant among the grandslam (Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Earth, and recently Miss Supranational), the Philippines’ Megan Lynne Young emerged as its 63^rd titleholder. Young, a veteran actress of ABS – CBN’s Star Magic league, made history as the very first Filipina to win the elusive blue crown. The finals became a success despite of week-long protests and scandals faced in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, this year’s original host. Organizers, later decided to move the culmination in the resort island of Bali to assure tight security amid protests.

Wearing a sequinned coral mermaid gown created by world-renowned Filipino designer Francis Libiran, Young outshined 127 other hopefuls from around the globe, beating heavyfavorites Brazil, Spain, and France, among others. She earlier emerged as this year’s top model, one of the highly anticipated fast track events of the competition and even placed in Beach Fashion and Multimedia events.

Completing her court are Misses France and Ghana, 1^st and 2^nd Princesses, respectively. Rounding out the Top 7 are heavy favorites Brazil and Spain, and Gibraltar, who joined the five after being proclaimed as the People’s Choice, elected by pageant fans through the Miss World app.

Young’s victory marks the triumph of Filipinos in pageant history. She completed the Grandslam titles of the country, making the Philippines the sole in the planet to have conquered all the crowns. Two Miss Universe, four Miss International crowns, one Miss World, one Miss Earth, and one Miss Supranational. Earlier this month, Isabela-native Mutya Johanna Datul made waves after she bag the title Miss Supranational, the youngest of the five pageants, held in Belarus.

Meanwhile, Philippines now joins the ranks of Brazil, and Venezuela for winning the Big 4 titles.

The Philippines is optimistic in showcasing the Filipina beauty. Cory Quirino, franchise holder of the Miss World Philippines, produced a runner up in 2011 (GwendolineRuais), a semi-finalist in 2012 ( QueenierichRehman, and finally, a winner this year ( Megan Young), three years after she bagged the rights of the franchise from Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc.

Along with Megan and Mutya, AraArida is set to conquer the universe in the gathering of the most beautiful women in the planet this November at Moscow, Russia.
